Six Injured After Woman In Alfa Romeo Hits Trolley Bus With Wedding Party In East Islip

Suffolk County Police Third Precinct officers responded to the crash in East Islip around 2 p.m., Sunday, May 19, at the intersection of Harwood Avenue and Union Boulevard, said the Suffolk County Police.

The crash occurred when a woman driving an Alfa Romeo northbound on Harwood Avenue allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection with Union Boulevard and collided with a trolley bus that was westbound on Union Boulevard, police said.

The Alfa Romeo then struck a pole, causing wires to fall. 

There were 11 passengers, plus a driver, on the trolley bus which was en route to a wedding. Five passengers from the bus were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

The unidentified driver of the Alfa Romeo was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of minor injuries. 

She was given a summons for running the stop sign.
